Hey, everyone! Welcome back! This week you should celebrate your accomplishment, go do that one thing you stopped doing a few times last month. You've earned it. If you'd rather not; maybe you don't miss it as much as you thought. I didn't when I first started. I actually started thinking more about, " how can I get this money working harder for me?" I thought about how much I was working hard for my money, how can I get my money working for me? As a hairstylist, when we don't work, we don't get paid. We don't get paid vacations, no personal days, no retirement. Are we expected to work until we're dead? I have sat for an entire shift more than once and didn't make a penny for my time. Let that sink in for a minute. Who works for free? Go into a job and only gets paid if they have someone in their chair. Who would do that? A hairdresser, who many times doesn't even get a 15% tip on the service they just gave. Let this sink in. This is why I kept going back to, "how can I get my money working for me?" Some weeks are great, some are good, some are bad. People have called the hair industry a hobby. That hobby bought me a house and supported me and my two kids somehow. People have said that a hairdresser needs to find a man to support them or get out of the industry. Why is that the answer? That answer is unacceptable to me. While I'm financial coaching, I need for hairdressers to start taking this into consideration, if others follow; us hairdressers may never get out of this grind, working the worst hours with lousy pay, and no retirement, and banking every last penny in hopes for a vacation in the near future while listening to our client talk about their vacation their getting their hair done for to go out of the country, drinking their Starbucks coffee, talking on their brand new phone, wearing the most expensive clothes.

I needed to write this one, to understand that there is a why. What's your why?
